Today is the last of the six major body types, the Diamond.
Diamond
Figure Descriptions
You have narrow shoulders and a small bust and back, with most of your weight distributed through the midriff and waist area.
Sometimes the waist is the largest measurement around a diamond’s body.
You have a flat derriere, with a natural overall wedge shape.
Style Suggestions
Balance your narrow shoulders with softly squared off shoulder pads and horizontal, broadening necklines.
Bring attention up to face, shoulder, and neck areas.
Make sure over-blouses taper in from your bust and tummy to avoid “maternity look.”
Taper skirts, pant legs, jacket hems, even your sleeve hems.
Remember: you are only as wide as your widest line.
Try short flippy skirts, unconstructed yet tapered jackets, scarves and accessories around the shoulder.
Avoid anything overly fitted, patterned, contrasting or tailored through the waist.

Oval
Figure Descriptions
You are broader through the middle and upper torso, with no waist indentation, and often have a full bust and sloping shoulders.
You have proportionately slim legs and arms, with an overall rounded shape, prominent tummy, and flat derriere.
Style Suggestions
De-emphasize the waist and emphasize the shoulder/neck/face area or thigh/leg area, your narrowest aspects.
Create the illusion of height and long verticals with V-necks, elongated, tapering tunic tops, hip wraps, straight or narrow tapered skirts, and pant legs.
Remember: you can’t create a waist where non exists, and trying to do so only emphasizes it more.

Rectangle
Figure Descriptions
You are straight up and down, with a somewhat small bust and little or no waist definition.
You have a columnar silhouette overall.
You may have a flashy back and slightly short neck, but you tend to have slim arms and legs.
Style Suggestions
Emphasize thighs and legs.
Try fluid, soft, flowing designs to create a feminine feel.
Nothing stiff or boxy as it mirrors body squareness overall.
Accentuate, don’t define, waist area.
Shaped vertical seams and slight drawstring gathering hint at a waist indentation.
Try monochromatic looks and one-piece dresses.
No horizontal lines at the waist.
Styles with gentle curves counterbalance your columnar silhouette.

Inverted Triangle
Figure Descriptions
You are broadest through the bust, shoulders, and upper back, narrowing into your waist with hips and thighs equal to your waist or slightly narrower all around.
You have a classic “swimmer’s body,” also called a “V” shape.
Style Suggestions
Keep anything that adds bulk or width through the shoulders, or overemphasizes the bust, away from your torso area.
Keep horizontal patters, texture, bulk and detail to a minimum on top.
Narrowing hips and thighs create an illusion of a waist.
Best if pant or skirt is not overly tapered or slim in cut, as the narrowness overemphasizes your angular shape.
Go for an illusion of overall contour.

Triangle
Figure Descriptions
Your hips and thighs are wider than your shoulders and bustline.
The triangle often has a flat tummy, rarely has “love handles,” and is well proportioned above the waist.
Your hip may broaden right under the waist but is usually widest eight inches below your waist at the “low hip.”
Your face and neck are slender.
Style Suggestions
Go for overall balance.
Broaden the shoulders, bust and upper torso with lighter colors, texture, and patterns placed there to draw attention away from width at the bottom.
Wear darker colors below waist and soft skirts such as a trumpet, fluted, gored, or flared to accommodate hips.
Slim skirts may span across the hip with not enough ease.
Separates work best, sometimes two different sizes: smaller on top, larger on bottom.

Today will be the last day that I continuing on with my analysis of London fashion and trends. Starting tomorrow I will go back to giving you great fashion tips.
Wedge sandals are all the rage this spring and summer. Whether they are espadrilles, cork, or wooden soled, find yourself a pair that works for you.
The key is to make sure that the wedge is in proportion to your body. If you are a petite woman, find a wedge that is more dainty and not quite as tall. If you are a larger woman, try to find a higher wedge with wider straps to make your legs look thinner. Like everything else, it’s all about proportion. Your wedges should not over power your body.

Everywhere I look I see black, white, and yellow here in London. If you want to be ahead of the trends this spring, get to the store and find a few pieces in these colors.
The key to not looking like a bee is to primarily wear two of the colors with a third as an accent. It’s when the colors are all evenly distributed that the bee effect happens.
Find a great printed skirt with all three colors in it, then wear a black top and shoes. Or black pants a white shirt and a yellow sweater with just the white collar sticking out….you get the picture.

Another London fashion that can be seen on women of varying age are trapeze tops, jackets, and dresses.
Brightly colored trapeze tops are paired with skinny jeans and heels or ankle boots. Trapeze dresses are worn alone with sandals or with leggings underneath. And perhaps the most versatile is the trapeze jacket which can be worn with jeans, trousers, or a skirt. Place a nice white blouse underneath and you are ready for the office, or a sparkly top for a night out.
Only the younger women should try the tops and dresses, but anyone can wear a trapeze jacket to liven up their wardrobe and look completely up to date!

I’m in London at the moment doing a little research and attending a friends wedding, and let me tell you, the mod look is back in full effect.
All the young women arewearing bright, solid colred shift dresses with opaque black tights and long sleeve shirts underneath. They are pairing this look with ankle boots for a more modern take on the trend. Geometric prints and large blocks of colors can also be found on these shift dresses.
I’m not sure if it’s the influence of Sienna Miller’s latest movie Factory Girl, where she plays Eddie Sedgwick, or if the London fashion scene decided to roll back the clock on 80s fashion and go for an earlier look, but one thing is certain….mod is everywhere right now!

I just found the greatest shoulder pad tip yesterday.
Although the 80s are long gone, many women still choose to wear shoulder pads. If you have a small frame, shoulder pads are great for balancing out your figure and adding a little structure to your upper body.
The problem many women have however, is that they have difficulty finding shoulder pads that look natural. Look no further!
You know those silicone inserts that you can put in your bra to make your boobs look a little bigger? I’m not talking about the permanent, surgical kind, but the ones you buy and can put in any bra. Buy yourself a pair of those and place them on your shoulders instead of in your bra. Not only are they comfortable, but they are soft, natural looking, and stay in place all day long.
What a find!
