Give Your Outfit Some Punch With a Bright Clutch

I know it’s hard to believe, but the holidays are rapidly approaching. You know what that means…holiday parties, social events, work Christmas parties, black tie new years eve galas, etc.

If you are planning on wearing your little black dress to everything, which makes life a lot easier, think about adding some punch to your look with one of these bright clutches from JCrew. They will not only make your look unique, but they will ensure that you are up to date and on trend with your party attire. They will add a little youth and fun to the traditional black dress and black heels look. It’s the holidays so have fun!

Stylists Survival Kit - Get Yours Today

Stylists Tool Kit – Buy Yours Today - Only $43.00

Celebrities rely on stylists to keep them current and looking fabulous. The job sounds glamorous, but the reality is that it’s hard work. Although a celebrity may look flawless on the red carpet, their look is often precariously held together with the help of hidden tape, pins, needles, and all sorts of other secrets.

Here are a few key items that you should have with you at home, and anytime you travel, to help you look polished and put together every day.

Buy your kit today for $43.00. Email erin@erinstafford.com, or fax your order and credit card information to 714 992 0588. Your kit will include everything listed below.

Foot Petals – These gems can help make even the most uncomfortable shoes bearable for an evening. They come in various shapes and sizes, but my favorites are the tip toes. They are round pads that cushion the ball of your foot so you can walk comfortably and confidently in your killer heels. (2 sets included)

Shoe Grips – Do you find that you slip and slide in new shoes because the sole isn’t scuffed up yet? Well shoe grips are little sandpaper like circles that stick to the bottom of your shoe to prevent you from slipping. Celebrities can’t risk falling on camera or on the red carpet, so they rely on these to keep them sturdy. Foot petals sell a version, but your local shoe repair store will have them as well. If you’re in a pinch, grab your scissors and score the bottom of the shoes. It works just as well. (2 sets included)

Cuticle Scissors – These little guys will save you every time. Pulling on stray strings will often ruin your garment. Cut away random threads, cut off tags, trim your eyebrows, cut your nails, score the bottom of your shoes, pry open a bottle of wine, whatever. I keep mine in my makeup bag so I always have them with me.

Double Stick Tape – If you are planning on going braless and wearing a low cut top or dress, double stick tape is necessary to keep everything in place. Cut a piece to size, adhere to the garment, then stick to the skin. Many companies sell their own versions of double stick tape, but I find the most effective, affordable, and widest variety can be found at wig/hairpiece stores. (1 packet of 50 strips included)

Shout Wipes – These are great to keep in your purse incase you get a stain on your clothes. They are sealed in individual packets, so they are small and easy to use. They will help treat the stain until you can get back to your house or have the garment dry cleaned. (4 included)

Sewing Kit – Any time you go to a hotel, make sure you keep the little sewing kits that they leave in the bathroom with all the other goodies. These are the perfect size to throw in your purse or overnight bag for those unplanned emergencies. Whether you need to sew a button back on, tack a top closed, or fix a hem with a couple stitches, you’ll be prepared.

Safety Pins – Whoever invented these was a genius. I keep a few safety pins in my change purse (as well as a couple bobby pins) so that I have them with me at all times. You never know when a button will pop off, your hem tears, a waistband is suddenly stretched out, or you rip your pants. A few strategically placed safety pins can often help you out until you get back to your tailor.

Lint Roller – Buy one regular sized to keep at home, and one travel sized to keep in your car or toss in your overnight bag. Nothing ruins a polished look quicker than being covered in lint. These should be mandatory for any dog or cat owner.

Static Solution - Avoid irksome static on tights and skirts with this nifty static solution spritzer. Or, you can do it the old fashioned way and simply spray aerosol hairspray on your skirt or dress to keep static at bay.

The Strapper – Finally, a handy tool that can convert a regular bra into a racer-back. This is great for traveling, as you won’t have to bring along multiple bras.

No More Blisters - This ingenious and invisible Blister Block roll on reduces friction to prevent blisters. Ideal for the first day you wear your new shoes or when you are faced with an unexpected long walk.

Make sure you bring these save the day items along with you on any trip…as you never know what might happen!

Image Breakers - How to Destroy Your Corporate Image

There are no shortage of ways to destroy your personal or professional image.  I know we are all guilty of a few of these now and then, but try to steer clear of as many of these as possible to look your most polished and professional.

    • Ill fitting clothes
    • Bad breath
    • Dark underwear under light colored clothes
    • Tattered hosiery
    • Brightly painted, long finger nails
    • Ultra revealing or clingy clothes
    • Wrinkled scarves
    • Inappropriate short skirts (4″ above knee)
    • No make up at work or a dressy occasion
    • A mish mash of patterns in one outfit
    • Dressing too young or too old
    • Sloppy language
    • Poor fitting or inadequate underwear
    • Tired, over wor, loved to death garments

This is a start.  I will add more next time.

    Sexy Studded Heels

I just bought this great pair of heels that I had to share with you. I bought them about a week ago and then sure enough I saw a huge spread in Glamour magazine this week with almost the exact same heels in every shot. The shoes I bought were by Jeffrey Campbell and only $95. The identical shoes in the photo shoot are by Burberry and cost $940. I’ve pasted both of the images below. Are the Burberry ones really that different?

A Stylish Testimonial from a Client of Mine

I just had to share this with you all.  This is why I do what I do.  Here is an email from a client of mine who was having a few issues with her clothes.  She didn’t know what worked for her body type, how to put outfits together easily, and how to make sense of her closet.  After just one session of closet organization and a body type analysis, she’s come back with this great email.  I’m so excited that she was now able to go to the mall and come back with clothes that work on her and make her feel great.

    “Erin,

I went to Banana Republic the other day to check out those tanks you were talking about, and I ended up with a lot more…

I now have a suit with pants and a jacket; a classic black dress, a classic wheat-colored dress, a black cashmere mini-dress which is my favorite piece of clothing of all time,

scrunchy black suede boots, two skirts – black tweed and a brown tweed – which both hit at perfect length; four jewel-toned tops of various colors and styles – all that skim, not hug or make me look like a tent.

Also leopard ballerina flats, new black pants with shiny tuxedo accents on the pockets, and four tanks.

I was so in my element, and knew what worked and what didn’t. I sent back skirts that were too long, red tops that made me look to “pinky,” and button downs that made me feel fugly. I only got clothes that fit terrific and made me feel like a million bucks.

And all enhance my hourglass shape.

Thanks for your tips.  I will never ever again look at my closet and not know what on earth to wear! Or feel frumpy or fugly.  Now I just need more places to go!”

    Bag Borrow or Steal

So if you’re anything like me and you love designer handbags, but can’t quite afford or justify spending $3,000 or more on a purse, there’s an alternative.  I just discovered this amazing website, www.bagborroworsteal.com, which lets you borrow real designer bags for a fraction of their retail price.  You can keep them for as long as you like and you just pay a monthly fee.  When you get board of the bag you have, simply send it back and get a new one.

This really is a great idea.  I wish I had thought of it.  Definitely check out the website and start sporting the latest “it” bag today.

Add a Bangle to Your Watch

A new trend is creeping up…take your watch and add a bangle. A new way to spice up your go-to timepiece is by simply layering it with a bracelet or two.

Whether you are pairing a bamboo Gucci watch with a bamboo bangle, or a rose gold watch face with a rose gold bangle, match your bangle to the metal on your watch or its strap. It’s a simple way to add a little something extra to your functional watch.

If you’re like me, I feel naked without my watch, so I wear it every day. It is silver and already looks like a bracelet, but I haven’t thought to pair another bracelet with it on the same arm. I usually wear my bracelets on the other arm. I’m now going to be on the look out for a great bangle to compliment my watch.
