    Slow Down - Shopping isn’t a Sport

    Shopping

Shopping isn’t a sport.   So many of my clients race through stores, because like most people they are trying to do too many things in too short a period of time, that they end up buying things they don’t try on, don’t really like, and that don’t match anything else in their closet.  The result is racks of clothes that sit in your closet unworn, and obscene amounts of money wasted.

Take your time, especially in this economy.  Try clothes on.  Look for a great fit and fabulous fabric.  Think about what you already have that will work with this new addition.  Only then should you think about buying something new.

    Spring into Summer

    Marc JacobsHudson

Most of the world has four seasons.  Lucky for us, here in southern California, we have two.  That means we can easily transition our spring style into fantastic summer looks.  Take a page out of the new Nordstrom catalogue (www.nordstrom.com) and try a slouchy springtime short and jacket with gladiators, long scarf, and black asymmetric fedora for a fabulous, relaxed weekend look.  Or, transition into summer with a denim skirt, killer heels, silky top, and straw fedora.  Both looks are feminine, comfortable, stylish, and spot on trend for spring/summer 09.

This May Not be the Body You Want, But it’s the Body You Have

    Scale

I continually tell my clients ”This may not be the body you want, but it’s the body you have.  So let’s make it look the absolute best we can.”

All too often I hear women complain about not being tall enough, thin enough, young enough, big enough here, small enough there, etc.  They make excuses for not spending the time and money necessary to help them look and feel their best because they are not “perfect.”

The truth is, we are never going to be perfect, and that’s ok.  That’s what makes us unique.  Life is too short to neglect yourself everyday wishing you were different than you are.  We can all look better, just as we are, if we spend a little time, money, and energy understanding which colors, styles, fabrics, and designs look best on us.

Stop putting off looking and feeling fabulous another day because you are not perfect.  Make the most of what you’ve got, highlight your best areas, and forget the rest.  I assure you that whatever areas you are insecure about, most people won’t even notice.

Enjoy the body you are in today!

A New Take on an Old Classic

In these tough economic times it is difficult to justify spending money on the latest trends.  When your clothing budget gets a pinch opt instead for new takes on old classics, such as the reinvented blazer.  The classic lines of a blazer and its incredible versatility make it a good investment.  When you combine that with a chic new length, interesting collar, or button accents, its give the blazer a new, modern twist.  Visit retailers of all price points to find a unique blazer that works for you and your budget.  Some of my favorite can be found at Zara, H&M, Bloomingdale’s, and Mango.
